–Bonnaroo has announced the bands that will be performing during the “late-night” slots this year. One of the most exciting aspects of any festival, the shows after the sun goes down and the heat subsides always carry a special energy. We already knew about Jay-Z’s special main stage after hours set and The Flaming Lips’ planned performance of Dark Side of The Moon under the early AM moon. Now, fans will be treated to similar shows from the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Thievery Corporation, Galactic, The Black Keys, The Disco Biscuits, GWAR, Clutch, Kid Cudi, Deadmau5, Darryl Hall and Chromeo, Bassnectar, Dan Deacon Ensemble, and B.O.B. Some of these will undoubtedly become showcase events with multiple bands taking their turn into the wee hours. We’d like to see The Black Keys include some elements from their hip-hop-rock project Blakroc, the Clutch/GWAR pairing seems obvious, and there are many combinations of electronic acts that would be fantastic.
-The inaugural Blackwater Music Festival will be held at the great Spirit of the Suwannee Music park in Live Oak, FL. The event will happen August 26-28, 2010, and the inaugural lineup reflects the spirit of the organizers – the same folks who throw the Bear Creek Music Festival. Slightly Stoopid, Michael Franti and Spearhead, The Disco Biscuits, STS9, JJ Grey and Mofro, Rebelution, and 20 more acts will comprise the event.
