News Fragments: Jackson Rules Charts, Vibe Magazine Folds, Rothbury Rocks, Yeah for Zero 7, Phish Maps Halloween Festival

-As the old song goes, “death don’t have no mercy.” Unless, of course, you have financial stock in Michael Jackson‘s rejuvenated music catalog. In that case, death has plenty, plenty mercy.

-Vibe Magazine has gone under. There’s a Pontiac joke in there somewhere…

-The Rothbury Festival sounds like a fine way to celebrate this weekend.

-One of my personal favorite trip-hop acts, Zero 7, will be releasing a new album in September. It certainly took long enough. What’s next, a new Sufjan Stevens record?

-Phish have always delighted in confusing their fans, and not just with songs of questionable quality, like “Anything But Me.” The band is currently keeping their website hopping with an animated splash page that features a stylized US map. Each day, two more states are “removed” from the map, and the last state standing will doubtlessly be the location of the three-day festival that will take place from October 30 – November 1, 2009.

  1. You’re right on with Rothbury, I’ve been taking HDR pics for my blot and have been having a riot, the crowd is great and acts can’t be beat, this year is actually better than last year.
